What has most calories red or white wine?
Public Comments
- usually red carries more
- White has marginally less calories but it's too few to worry about to be honest and red is better for you so just drink what you enjoy most and if you are worried about the calorie content, drink less of it. A smaller glass can be extremely helpful with this.
- The number of calories in red wine and white wine does differ slightly; typically, four ounces of white wine have about five calories less than red wine. With that said, the number of calories in different varieties of wine differ far more; the higher the alcohol content, the higher the calorie count. I found a chart listing calories in wine varieties, and you can use the USDA National Nutrient Database to search for the nutritional and caloric information for all sorts of wines (and other drinks and foods).
- An average of all common brands of wine (excluding sherry and vermouth) -- both red and white -- contains between 20-25 calories per ounce.
