Is Pinot Grigio good for a recipe that calls for white wine?
I've read that sauvignon blanc is a good choice but had some Pinot Grigio in the fridge. I'm making french onion soup.

- yep.. it will be just as good....
- Perfect, I also use a dry vermouth when necessary.
- Sure, that will be fine.
- sure, it's a light dry wine that will work fine for cooking
- The french always use red where possible, better flavors in the end product
- Hmm maybe a tad sweet. I usually use a Cabernet/Burgundy for my French onion soup, I use Vidalia onions.
- Different wines will affect the final product by giving it slightly different tastes. Keeping that in mind, you should only use wine in recipes that you would drink from a glass. If your pinot grigio is a bottle of wine that you would drink, then it will be great in your recipe. But your soup will taste a little different than if you used sauvignon blanc or chardonnay, etc.
