Wine Tasting Party Ideas???

I am going ot have a girls only wine tasting party! I want it to be fun! I need some ideas of the kinds of wine, food, games I should use?

Go to a good "wine" shop, one that sells only wine, and ask for good, inexpensive wines. You might want a variety of different wines (white, red, blush, etc).
I would offer an antipasto. Different cheeses and different types of olives. roasted red peppers and artichokes. Of course bread and crackers. I wouldn't prepare an actual meal. I love the idea of wine, but just don't like it. haha

Pre-taste the wines so that you can pair them accordingly. If you go with sweet wines, pair it with Thai foods. White wines with lighter foods. Lighter reds with grilled foods. etc. I have been to one where we sit around a table and little appetizer size plates of little mouthfuls come with the wine it is paired with. Don't do more than 6 types.
Check out a wine store for good wine. There will be someone there to help you and you should be able to taste the wine. Tapas are always good wine tasting foods.

This site I'm giving you should be of some help. Of course they recommend their own wines, but I'm sure you could change to whatever label (brand) you want. Pick your recipe and check out the wine at the bottom. Don't forget the charms for the wine glasses. Search for a site to get directions if you want to make your own. Do you have any artistic talents? Try your hand at painting special glasses for each guest. You can get the glass paints ( with instructions ) at any craft store. Don't forget the glass conditioner. Offer a selection of cheeses, both soft and hard, and of course grapes, both green and red. Do you have an empty wine bottle? Slip a small set of colored Christmas lights inside and hang the cork off the top. Place this with the wine and cheese display. You could also use a wine glass to make a candle. Get a tube of gel wax and the wicks at the craft store. You could make several fo a small cost and place them around the food table. Search the net and look for flags you can print out from the country of the cheeses you are serving. Attach them to toothpicks and insert in the cheeses. OOPS I did go no, didn't I ? Ok, I'm not a girl, but take it from a guy who loves wine, and girls!!! I'm really a restaurant owner and I have had several private party type situations where a group of girls like to have get togethers. One of my favorite things to suggest is a blind tasting party.. Fun and easy. Get a few different kinds od relatively cheap or middle of the road wines of different varietals. For reds get a cab/merlot/red zin/ pinot noir For whites try a chardonnay savignon blanc/fume blanc/riesling. When you get home take aluminum foil and cover the bottles completely and set them up on a table with a piece of paper under or next to each bottle. For food a simple fruit and cheese plate with some French bread is perfect as these are great palate cleaners. Instruct everyone that you have prizes for anyone that can correctly select which varietal each of the bottles are and start having some fun.... Go crazy with the prizes... a trip to wine country maybe??? Don't worry.... if you do 4 bottles of red and four of white..... A large portion of wine experts wouldn't pass the test so unless you dealing with some pretty educated wine people your trip is safe!!! Have fun and cheers!
