Need wine suggestions for high end wedding?

Hello, I'm not a wine drinker, more of a mixed drink/cocktail kinda gal. Only wine I ever really had was a red one and a white zinfandel. LOL - anyway, I'm attempting to find fine wines for a high end wedding with a $400,000 - $500,000 type of budget etc. I need a wine that can be put on every table - 2 servings per guest. There's 278 guests and tables of 10 so I need to be able to order the wine in "bulk" or however you say it. Can anyone make suggestions - I looked in groom to be's wine fridge and found a bottle of 2002 Bordeaux and a few others, so I know he likes those....here's a sample of some of the possible foods on the menu: soup or salad and dinner rolls grilled filet mignon, loaded baked potatos and creamed spinach penne w/ vodka sauce and chicken salmon filet w/ wild rice and mixed baby greens Vegan - Eggplant Parmesan w/ spaghetti noddles Any wine suggestions would be great! TY. I'll pick best answer... ** january - why even bother answering the question if you're not going to read it? I don't care what you think about anything else but the wine suggestions. That is what this question is about. U don't know the details of everything else so try and guess. That's not what this question is about anyways.

  1. I would recommend finding a local winery that sells their wine by the cases. They would more than likely be happy to help you pair their wines with your menu! They would also be able to tell you how much you will need for the amount of ppl you have. GOOD LUCK!
  2. If it is really a high end wedding, why on Earth would you not have a professional for this???? your question makes no sense!
  3. Gibeth22 is right. I'd only add that you bring that bottle of Bordeaux to the shop. A few wine shops. Also, describe the bride and groom. Wines of character showcased at the tables would be a nice touch. Their personalities ought to be reflected in the choices. Accompanying food should be second to honoring the happy couple. You could pull this off because the old 'rules' of wine and food matching are out the window these days and just about anything goes. Good luck with this.
  4. I would work with Zaca Mesa out of Santa Ynez. They do Bordeaux blends. Their Z Cuvee would be perfect. We served it at our rehearsal dinner with Grouper and Filet. www.zacamesa.com
  5. Chateau Thunderbird, Good Luck....
  6. oh yeah that sounds real good. I know what I would like to see on the tables. Yellow Tail. To me it sounds like you have a hefty budget for this shindig. If I could doo it I would get ten to twenty boxes of each flavor. With extra boces of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvinaugn, and maybe a pinot noir. By the way, Congratulations
