White Wine Pasta Sauce Questions
Substitute for wine in a pasta dish? Hi, does anyone know what I can use as a substitute for white wine in a pasta dish with white sauce? I'm not trying to avoid using alcohol, but I just don't have the right kind on hand at the moment
We're gonna have pasta.. should i get white or red wine? I'm probably gonna have white sauce or just lemon butter sauce. And i prefer white wine. any tips on what bottle of wine i should pick? Australian, italian, spanish? I want a sweeter taste and less alchohol after taste? is that still possible?
GOOOD pasta with wine cooked meat recipe? This dish was/is a special at Romano's Macaroni Grill on their list of wine cooked specialties. The meat was like fajita meat and cooked with some type of red wine and the pasta had a white sauce and some spinach and some red stuff. Does any one have a recipe similar to this one? If u do, itd b great if i could have it i want to make this for my mother on mothers day and this would be a huge help. THANKS!!
How do you make this pasta dish? My husband and I got one of those Bertoli frozen dinners the other night to save time the other night . I was surprised that it was actually DELICIOUS! It had cherry tomatoes, white wine sauce, garlic, shrimp, asparagus, and angel hair pasta. While cooking, the tomatoes burst and turned into sauce. How can I make this homemade? And what is it called?
Smoked Salmon Fussli Pasta, how do you make the smoked salmon cream sauce?? I had this dish at an italian restaurant and have attempted to make it but I can't get the sauce right. The dish is very simple, just fussli pasta with the smoked salmon cream sauce mixed in to the pasta. The sauce tastes very creamy, smooth and smokey. From what I can see the sauce has in it; cream (milk or sour cream??) basil smoke salmon pieces olive oil and maybe white wine?? but it didn't say that in the menu. I tried with these ingredients but the sauce came out to thick... the colour was more a light cream/pinky colour rather then the rich orange colour of the restaurant dish. Plus the next day when i tried the left overs the pasta had soaked up the sauce and the pasta dish was very dry. When i bring take home of that restaurant dish the sauce still stays pretty saucey when i re-heat it the next day. What am I doing wrong??
Sauce for handmade roasted red pepper pasta? What kind of sauce should I make for this handmade roasted red pepper fettucine that we picked up at the market today? I'm considering something like a dijon mustard sauce with white wine and green onions. Any other ideas?
Need help with PASTA RECIPES.? Me and my girlfriend are renting some movies tonight and want to dine in. We want to make some pasta but neither of us don't really know how to make a good pasta sauce. We usually just buy the sauce that comes in a jar but were(I'm) tired of that. We tried to look up some recipes online but they were way to complicated and time consuming. We want to make a gralicy or a white wine sauce. We want something that is fast, easy, simple, and tasty. I also dont want to go out and buy anything. Let's save the extremely exotic seasonings for another night. Just want something simple. Any suggestions? BTW, i have shrimp, chicken, and tilapia. Keep them coming! Me and my girlfreind will decide on which one to use. Best recipe gets BEST ANSWER!
How come everytime we make cream sauce, especially with pasta, the cream curdles? My boyfriend and I have made a couple different attempts at pasta with cream sauce, once with a white wine reduction and one carbonera sauce. We followed instructions, but both times, the cream curdled. (in the case of the cabonera, teh egg sauce curdled). What are we doing wrong? Is there too much grease and oil? I thought that was PART of the reduction/ pan sauce part? We cooked down the onions and white wine first, then added the cream before adding the pasta? Ok, the burner was turned off after pretty thouroughly reducing the wine, so I don't really think heat is it. Maybe it needed flour first, though?
Unique, tasty, low fat pasta sauce [10 pts best answer!]? I'm clueless for dinner tonight, so I figured I'll go with a simple pasta dish. I have a box of wheat elbow macaroni, so that's what I'll cook up. I do have other regular pastas if you have other ideas. However, I have no idea what kind of healthy pasta sauce to make! I want a white sauce because I am not big on tomato sauce. I have virgin olive oil, garlic, cooking wines, onions, brocolli, 1% milk, low fat sour cream, and that's all I can think of that might be useful. I love simple macaroni and oil, but I want something more. I don't feel like going to the store, but I wouldn't mind it if you can give me a great sauce recipe! Any recipes would be appreciated. I've looked all over online and through my cook books, but nothing is popping at me. PS- I ALWAYS pick a best answer. =)
What's a good pasta sauce for shrimp and wheat pasta? I am making pasta and shrimp tonight. I am using wheat elbows. Yes, not typically done with shrimp, but its my preference. What is a good pasta sauce to have with it? I have store bought Prego, store bought vodka sauce (yes, a pasta sauce), EVOO, garlic, lemon juice, cooking wine (sherry, white, burgandy, and marsala), and that's about it really. Anyway, what do you think would be best? Any creative ideas? Some cheap ingredients or sauces to pick up that would be better? Oh, and I also have parmasan, provolone, and sharp cheddar cheese. Mmm. Good combo with the oil, garlic, lemon juice, and cooking wine! Thanks. =) I was trying to figure out a good combo!
what to cook with ...? My parents in law are coming tonight (my husband invited them last minute) and i have nothing but chicken legs olives carrots and potatoes flour rice and pasta white wine I wanted to do chicken in wine sauce but it needs cream or mushrooms or tomato but i dont have those ingredients..any ideas of what to cook with what i listed? THANKS well, yes i have onions, garlic, butter but for me those count as seasoning :P
What wine should I serve with my creamy lasagna rollups? I am having company and am new at this wine thing, so I was hoping you could help me. I am serving an herby lasagna roll-up recipe that has lots of fresh veggies, no meat and ricotta/mozzarella along with pasta inside of it. It has a somewhat strong herb (basil, oregano, etc...) cream & mozzarella cheese sauce. What wine would you recommend? White or red, and any particular suggestions that you think will go well with it? Any ideas for the meal as far as appetizers are fine too, but I really need to know about the wine mostly. I want to clarify that it's not a marinara sauce at all, it's a cream sauce. It does have fresh tomatoes as one of the ingredients, but it's not your typical lasagna. It's not "tomatoey" at all! :)
Do I have to put wine in this recipe? I found this recipe online for a dish I loved in restaraunt. I'm pretty sure the dish there did not have wine in it. Do I have to add it and if not what do i do to replace it in the recipe? And what kind of wine should I buy ? It is for Pollo Scaloppine 4ozlemon juice 2oz white wine 4 ozheavy cream 1 lb butter you slowly cook that to make the sauce: 8oz chicken breast 3/4 flour 6oz smoked pancetta 12 oz mushrooms 12 oz artichoke 1 T capers 1 lb pasta. Thank you for your answers: If you have a better recipe for this dish I would love to have it.

Milanese Sauce??? Standard Italian Resturant stuff.....? Hey, i used to go to this great little italian place , but it was destroyed in a hurricane. They had a wonderful "chicken milanese" dish. It was breaded and fried, but the sauce was outragous. My taste buds told me: white wine, chicken stock, and butter. I couldnt taste much else besides salt and pepper. They're closed now and no one can tell me measurements or other ingredients that may have been used. Any help???? PS- i want to put the chicken on a bed of pasta and then pour sauce over it<like they did!?
food for 2day? its cold and rainy here..not a big stew fan.. will only have about and hour and a half to shop for and cook dinner... i wanted to make some mussels in white wine garlic sauce, but not sure if that will work with todays weather... although i still could do the mussels, but i want to make them with something other than pasta and/or bread... ginnie some good rainy day ideas for me and my very italian boyfriend, please:)
I've got 2 nice steaks...how can I make a good mushroom sauce for them? I have some sliced white mushrooms and I'd love to make a sauce for the steaks. I once had an awesome sauce that contained balsamic vinegar and I think red wine with the mushrooms. I'd like to recreate something like that. Angel hair pasta is the side dish. Shiraz is being served with dinner.
ATTENTION all cooks! Help? I have not gone grocery shopping in a while and I am tryin to make some sort of shrimp with pasta and savory sauce dish. However, I am limited to the following ingredients: Shrimp Frozen spinash (chopped) Butter Oil & Herbs basting Eggs Shredded mozzarella Mayonnaise Cream cheese Parmesean White wine Mustard Breadcrumbs Pan searing flour Bacon bits Salt & pepper Garlic cloves & garlic powder Olive oil Pasta (Ziti) Cream corn Pasta Sauce (Prego, the red meat sauce) .... I have no choice but to use these ingredients only! I am trying to whip up something really yummy for my cousin and I. Please don't forget to include a recipe for some kind of savory thick sauce to go over the shrimp and pasta. Thanks a lot.
Cooking question? If I'm making a shrimp sauce for pasta and the recipe calls for white wine, can I substitute champagne for the wine instead?

nightmares, paranoia, and loss of appetite? Recently I've had some really weird dreams, granted, I rarely have dreams, and when I do they're usually a bit strange, but they never bother me like this. I have alice in wonderland like dreams, if I have them at all. Just trippy like that, but they usually don't get to me like these latest ones have. I had one about getting kidnapped, and another about having a little brother, who had a friend, who was a ghost, who got cut in half by a train, who turned into a headless manniquen once he was dead then my dad went missing and my mom was an oiled up boobjob barbie and i got a sandwich at a newspaper stand... I dont get it, these dreams shouldn't have rattled me, but they did. And I'm so freakin paranoid at night, I'm always scared that someone, or something is in the house, even though I know its ridiculous. I just have a majorly over active imagination and it usually takes me 1 or 2 hours to fall asleep. I'll just be lying there and I always feel like something is in the room. I'm also deathly afraid of roaches and we've killed a few in the house in the past week or two. I just cant sleep, I end up crashing at like 3 or 4 in the morning and waking up at 2 the next afternoon. I need to fix this quick! I've got school coming up in 25 days! And for the past week or so, I'll be really hungry, and i'll take two bites of dinner, and I'll be full. And I know I dont have an eating disorder, because I KNOW i'm not fat. Thing is, I'm a simple foods kind of girl, and my stepmom likes to make all these weird dinners, chicken pasta and pesto, chicken fetuchinii alfredo and stuff like that. With a bunch of extra seasonings and weird cheeses and like white wine marinara sauce. But I like spaghetti. Just throw some noodles in the pot and dump some plain old generic red sauce in there and eat it. I like pizza. I like Ramen. I like plain easy, simple foods. So for the past couple nights, I just havent had any appetite. But tonight, we went to CiCi's and I ate half a pizza. What's going on? 21 minutes ago - 1 week left to answer. Additional Details 13 minutes ago I've got a doctors appointment for my overactive imagination, which my family and I believe to be anxiety, and my inability to sleep. But what can I do to help until then?
What appetizer and side dish for Chicken Alfredo? I'm entertaining and the guest of honor has requested grilled chicken breasts with home made alfredo over angel hair pasta. What's a good appetizer and side veggie? I was thinking a Caprese salad (fresh mozzerlla, basil, tomato) served with crustini and maybe a steamed asparagus (with what sauce? just butter?). Also, I was going to serve a light white wine, or maybe a Spanish sparkling wine. Am I on the right track?

What do you think about this recipe? I was thinking of replacing the chicken with prawns & maybe adding asparags what do you think? •4-6 chicken breasts •1/3 cup butter •2/3 cup white wine (Sauvignon Blanc works especially well due to the herbaceous character) •2 10 oz. or one 14 oz. can(s) cream of mushroom soup •4 oz. cream cheese •2 cloves garlic •2 finely chopped green onions •1 package of dry Italian salad dressing mix •16 oz. pasta - linguine works very well •Sun-dried tomatoes •Parmesan cheese PREPARATION: Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Melt butter in large pot and stir in package of Italian salad dressing mix. Next stir in wine, mushroom soup and cream cheese until well-blended. Continue to heat (without boiling) mixture for about 5 minutes, sauce should be creamy and all cream cheese should be melted in. Place chicken in single layer in baking dish and pour the above mixture over. Cook for 50-55 minutes. Cook pasta about 15 minutes before chicken is done. Drain pasta and serve chicken and sauce over the linguine. Top with sun-dried tomatoes and parmesan cheese. Don't forget to save some of the white wine to complement dinner!
Can somebody please give me a BASIC run down about wines?!? OK, I have been told that reds go with brown food, and whites go with white food, and that makes sense. Specificaly, what about chicken served in red sauce with pasta? What about a veggie pizza (although I usually prefer beer with this)? What about blushes? I had thought that Zifandel was a blush, but the bottle I picked up today, appears to be a red. Am I confusing it wiht something else? Please be nice and please don't just cut and paste Wikipedia.
Ladie's help?: What's a good dish I can make for a lady on a surprise candlelight dinner date? I've a cetificate in culinary arts, dificulty and time is not a problem. Preferably something everyone likes to eat, as some women are a bit picky about the food they eat, but not something boring. I can make it interesting. I'm not sure if she's alergic to seafood, so either, a bird (chicken, turkey, duck, etc...), beef or pork. Maybe pasta but no cream sauces or spicy stuff. And no reptiles! (gator, frog legs, snake) LMAO. I'm also thinking about the digestive after-effects of eating our dinner if we move on to the "desert" part. That's another thing...desert! I can take care of that. I am making a song list. Days of all kinds of music in my hard drive. Maybe three bottles of great wine. White, red, depends on what we're eating. Thinking about massage oils. Maybe some more candles in the b-room, she's mentioned something about showers with company. Actually she's mentioned a lot. Maybe cancel the shower and bring the wine down to the hot tub. Is this too much? Will she like this? This is just planning ahead. It may, or may not happen as with all things.

Sorry forgot the kids drinks yeah I have apple, orange, coke, lemonade etc the mixers are sorted, seating is sorted, got napkins cutlery etc. I've even got fairy lights for the garden for when the sun sets.lol mum has her own business so she doesn't need to book time off.lol As for flowers, I buy her flowers every week so I have bought her a new car as she is taking her driving lessons, it will be parked outside my house with a BIG pink ribbon on it. Sorry hun. ;) lol
What goes good with mussels? I'm making some mussels with white wine, onions, and lemon... (this recipe to be exact: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_35802,00.html exact i'm not going to use a grill) I'm going to serve it with crusty bread to dip in the sauce. Do you think this will be enough or should I have something else with it? If so, any ideas? I'm not quite sure what would go good with it. No pasta, as my boyfriend hates pasta. (This is going to be just a meal for us two) Any suggestions are appreciated!
Help proofreading essay??? This is a college essay on how to set a formal table. It is to be a mix of directional/exemplative essay. I need someone to help proof read my essay. I cant figure out what to use as an introduction so if someone could help me write one, that would be awsome. Any advice is much appriciated. Also should I add anything or delete anything?? Thanks A formal table setting would be defined as a symmetrical or highly organized way of emphasizing the organization of dishes, cups and silverware. It is used in formal events such as Christmas dinner, a Military Ball or having dinner with someone of importance-like the President- for example. At a formal dinner there is an alternation of courses with it’s accompanying vegetable. They begin with a lighter fare, or diet and move on to heavier meats or whole fish. Rich pastas with delicate sauces are served, as well as salad, desert and many different drinks including water, tea and wine. There is a basic way of setting a formal table which I will now share. First, choose an appropriate table cloth. A linen tablecloth is the more popular, fine choice for covering your dining table and often linen and lace are combined. The tablecloth may be any color that you desire, but a white one signifies cleanliness and elegance. It also makes the silverware and the dishware stand out better. Your napkins should match the color of the tablecloth Remember that dinner napkins are large in size, and are not to be confused with luncheon napkins which are considerably smaller. Next, decide on how many guests are going to attend your dinner, and have the appropriate number of silverware and dishware pieces on hand. In order to correctly set the table, you will need the napkins, a sufficient number of water glasses, wine glasses, bread dishes, bread knives, dinner plates, soup spoons, salad plates, salad forks, dinner forks, dinner knives, dessert spoons, coffee cups and saucers. Each course of the formal dinner requires a different set of silverware and dishware. Your silverware should be a complete set and the patterns on all of the pieces should match. To maximize the formality of your dinner, a complete set of fine china or crystal should be used. Do not try to put together odds and ends of different sets as this will create a tacky, mismatched effect. To set your table, every piece of silverware and each piece of dishware has its distinctive spot on the formal dinner table, and must be put in its proper spot. Start with the largest plate which is the dinner plate. It is placed in the center of each place setting. The soup dish is then placed in the center of the dinner plate. Next, place the dinner fork to the exact left of the dinner plate, with the salad fork to its left. Up above the salad fork, and to its left, place the salad plate. Directly above the dinner fork, place the bread plate with the bread knife horizontally across it. To the exact right of the dinner plate, place the dinner knife, and position the soup spoon to its right. Now, right of the soup spoon is where the coffee cup and saucer are placed. Directly above the coffee cup, place the wine glass, with the water glass placed a little above it and to its left. The napkin is folded and placed either in the empty water glass, or on the dinner plate. Lastly, the dessert spoon is placed in the center above the dinner plate. Make sure you add a stunning centerpiece to complete your formal dining table, a flower arrangement is typically what is used. When setting a formal table, it is tradition to have place settings, In such an instance the host is on one end of the table and the hostess is on the opposite end. The female guest of honor is seated on the host’s right side and is always served each dish first. Serving should move around the table counterclockwise from the female guest of honor to finally the host. Keep in mind a very formal dinner is served by staff. One server generally stands behind the hostess’s chair, except when pouring wine, while the others serve the meal.

I already have some pasta..shreaded cheddar or swiss cheeses..white wine,,spices... butter... bbq sauce...mayo..dijon mustards...salso.. cream of celery soups... canned chili...canned green beans...canned corn... frozen Talapia fish.... Any recipe suggestions? I can buy a few things just as long as its $10 or less! Thank you!
What do you think about this meal? We had some friends over and this is what I served Cheddar Garlic biscuits...Like at Red Lobster Calamari in a Lemon Beurre Blanc with fresh Roma tomatoes and capers Salmon poached in white wine and herbs Penne pasta with sauteed garlic, olive oil and fresh tomatoes Carrots in a brown sugar butter sauce Cheesecake..I made myself..with fresh strawberries and strawberry glaze! I was definitely thanked. My meal wqas compared to those at an upscale restaurant! I worked so hard on all of it. The calamari came out like nothing I've ever had...so tender! I hate to brag but can I?

She's alredy mentioned she wants to sleep with me. I'm only trying to make it a special time for both. Meanwhile, I still have time to asses more info from her. Please don't cook with me if you don't wanna get burned. Dear TheTrotch, I sensed agression in your answer, so yes I was sarcastic. You said "we're not stupid you know :P" (tongue and everything!!!) And to me it felt like you were trying to call me stupid. I don't take that lightly. Overall you didn't even try to answer the question... where's the food sugestions? Instead you wrote, 'this is what I see' I don't wanna start anything here. But if you'd rather be ignored I suggest you save your key-strokes. DRAT! Ok that was a little harsh, you were trying to help. My problem is you looked at all the possible negatives and didn't give me much hope. I can see now. (can you see that?) So no hard feelings? ;)
